The new school year has brought about new changes at Brillantmont. After more than 40 years at Brillantmont we bid farewell to Mr Philippe Pasche, who has retired from his position as Director.

School has been back for three weeks and life at Brillantmont International School is action packed. For new students, whether boarding or day students, there is a whole new Brillantmont world to be discovered, with lots of opportunities for growth in and out of the classroom.

Two of the most popular academic programs for Grade 11/12  students globally are Advanced Levels (A Levels), which are the national examination of England, Wales and Northern Ireland and the International Baccalaureate (IB). Most international schools will offer either of these two curricula for 16-18 year olds.

Here at Brillantmont, our students have the choice of an American High School Diploma with SAT / AP or studying for A Levels. But why do we recommend this programme over the IB and what are the main benefits for our students?

Studying at Brillantmont is a fantastic experience for students. As well as preparing for upcoming exams, the students have the opportunity to meet new friends from around the world, develop language skills, and to try new activities.

Their studies will lead on to university, if they choose further education, where they can build on what they learn with us. Whether they opt for GCSEs and A Levels or the US High School Diploma, education here will help to forge a path towards the career of their dreams.

This year’s Habitat for Humanity team traveled to Phnom Penh, Cambodia for 10 days in April to build an elevated house for Chaang, Samot, Neardey and Nita.

We arrived to Phnom Penh on Smiling Day where we were greeted at the airport by cheerful people giving out complimentary colorful bamboo fans, cotton scarves and woven boxes. From this day until our departure ten days later, we experienced the warmth…both literally and figuratively…of Cambodia.

As you may already be aware, some of our Grade 8 and 9 pupils have been working extremely hard this year on building robots and creating games. We are very proud to unveil the results of our coding and programming classes for the first time.

In collaboration with the TechSpark Academy, our students have been developing code that can power intelligent robotic life, and building snake-based games that can eat apples and navigate obstacles! Not only has this been a fun and highly engaging class, but the students have learned valuable skills which could prove very useful in their future careers.

As part of our ongoing robotics and programming course, Brillantmont’s Grade 8 students recently attended the UN's World Summit on the Information Society, held in the ITU building in Place de Nations. Here, our students were able to apply knowledge recently acquired in class,  as they learned all about the design and construction of robotic, prosthetic hands.

With exams coming up, you might be wondering how you will find the time to cover everything you need to know. Revision for exams can be overwhelming. However, with good planning and a structured approach, you can break up your study sessions - and make it much easier to learn the content.
