The third term at Brillantmont International School is always a busy one and we often find ourselves wondering where the year has gone! This is the time of year when students are taking official examinations and setting their sights on future plans and goals. The most common exams taken by are students are the British IGCSE and A Levels or the American Advanced Placement exams.

What, you may ask, is a beastie hotel? This spring, teacher Kennedy, the Maths Co-ordinator, and Mrs. Brown, dreamt up an interdisciplinary project to engage the boarding school students outside the classroom. It was a joint environmental, PHSE, geography, and maths project to build hotels to attract and house various kinds of insects.

Ski Week is a favorite annual tradition at Brillantmont International School. Every year, students take a whole week out of their term to travel into the breathtaking Swiss Alps, stay at a beautiful hotel, and ski or snowboard all week! Whether you are a beginner or advanced skier, this week will further develop your skills in the snow and is guaranteed to be packed with fun. This year’s trip was another great success. The students had a blast on the mountain and they are already talking about going back again next year. Below are some comments on the experience from two students, one from Mexico and one from Brazil.

Every year a group of hard working Brillantmont boarding students heads to a Model United Nations conference to test their skills in debate and public presentation. This year, our group attended the conference in the Hague. After experiencing this one-of-a-kind challenge, three students came back to Brillantmont and shared with us how this experience influenced them. The following are some highlights from these conversations.

We are now into another term at our Swiss boarding school and this means that students are preparing for all of the examinations ahead of them. At Brillantmont International School, our students can choose to take A levels, the SATs, IGCSE, IELTS and/or European language exams. On top of this, just like every school around the world, we have mid-term exams coming up soon. Each and every one of these takes a lot of preparation, guidance, and support to successfully complete.

This past year our blog was filled with articles on school activities, student achievements, graduation plans, curriculum highlights shared by teachers, discussion about some of the important topics that concern our parents, new policies at the school, and well wishes from our director. As the old year wraps up and a new one begins, we looked back at some of our most popular articles at the boarding school and drew them together in this year-in-review finale. Find below some of the highlights of last year’s blog.

For over 20 years, one of the most popular extra-curricular activities at Brillantmont has been Model United Nations, otherwise known as MUN. MUN is a simulation conference where students from all over the world are allocated a country, create a delegation and represent that country’s views on current international issues on the United Nations agenda. With the help of the schools they come from, students research, write resolutions and then go to the conference to defend the interests of that country.

Many parents send their children to boarding school in Switzerland, nestled in the centre of Europe, both because of its reputation for safety and security, its fresh air and beautiful landscapes. Safety risk in Switzerland is very low compared to other countries and there is a history of elite families coming here where discretion is highly valued. This tradition also filters down to Swiss boarding schools like Brillantmont where we are used to working with people who seek safety and a good all-round environment for their child. Health and security are therefore prioritised here, and this blog will explore the details of how this is true on our international school campus. 

Last week was Reading Week at Brillantmont International School. This has become an annual tradition at our Swiss boarding school and the focus this year was on drama! Every year we select a special theme and build a week of experiences around it. For instance, one year the focus was on poetry, and another year it was fantasy.
