“I will never forget the challenge of my first MUN class -my fear of public speaking, my lack of knowledge and confidence especially when confronted with graduates in the same class! These fears decreased over time and I found comfort that others felt the similar emotions. However, the stress of attending my first THIMUN conference in Singapore was off the scale, how would I perform in such a huge conference? There, I was struck by how good other students my age were, how hard they worked and how motivated they were but again I was comforted by the fact many felt just like me… terrified!

When your child enrols at Brillantmont, they are signing up to more than just an educational experience of a lifetime. We value the enrichment of our students’ lives completely and have an active social agenda which we believe fosters many positive aspects of a child’s development.
A student’s life from 14-17 is an incredibly important time, laying the foundations for a career at university and deciding the path of the rest of their lives. But what about those formative years in the lead-up to IGCSEs and A Levels, PSATs and High School Diplomas, or their equivalents? Also, why does Switzerland provide such a great environment for learning from 11-14?
What a year 2012 was for Brillantmont and our students! We celebrated our 130th anniversary, opened our new multipurpose sports and arts hall and expanded our sports department to make the most of it. The Brillantmont Summer Course left us with memories to last a lifetime, while the school began its accreditation process with stellar work undertaken by all involved. We’ve yet to mention our school trips to Braga in Portugal, Venice, Berlin, Paris and Singapore for Model United Nations (MUN).
At the end of November a group of Brillantmont students headed out to Singapore, in the company of teacher Mr Victor McClean to participate with over a thousand others, in the Model United Nations (MUN) conference (www.thimun.org).
For students attending a school like Brillantmont, involving oneself in extra-curricular activities and cultural pursuits is the easiest – and most enjoyable! – way to involve oneself in school life. Choose an activity you enjoy and you’ll soon meet like-minded people with the same interests, a solid basis for any friendship.
The accreditation process is ongoing (see last posting) and for any school this is very positive. It means that the school is constantly looking for ways to improve and innovate, with a view to providing the very best learning environment for the students.
Brillantmont has been accredited for over 30 years by the Council of International Schools and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. These two organisations work globally in a range of education-related areas, one of which is Swiss school accreditation. There are approximately 660 schools in 120 countries, which are fully accredited by CIS and a further 440 associated post-secondary institutions.
