Brillantmont was founded in 1882 as a boarding school for girls. Now, 131 years later, many things have changed, but members of that same founding family still own the school and sit on the School Board, heading a team which steers students towards academic and personal success.
Brillantmont has many talented students, and considers each one special in many different ways. Each year, upon graduating, some are honoured with awards from both Brillantmont and outside organisations. Here we bring you news of two such students – Wei (William) Lee from Taiwan and Ekaterina Dopiro from Russia.
On June 21st our Graduation and Prize-Giving ceremony took place. Congratulations to all our graduates and we wish them well on their journeys.
Brillantmont alumnus Jordi Godayol from Spain tells us about his time here, and how his A Level studies gave him excellent university options including a place at one of the world’s top academic institutions, right here in Lausanne.
Here at Brillantmont we’ve nurtured countless young minds throughout our 130-year history, and wished all of them a fond farewell upon moving on to the next chapter of their lives. Let’s hear from three recent or soon-to-be leavers – Koffi from France, Laura from Colombia and the parents of Jeremy from the USA.
This year, the Middle School went to the Scottish Highlands as part of their programme, along with Mrs Nikyuluw, Ms Richmond and Mr Robbins. The five-day course, run by the Outward Bounds Trust, concentrated on developing a number of skills such as decision-making, leadership and communication, as well as linking classwork on climate change, the environment and sustainability with activities in the field.
On Thursday 30th May, Brillantmont hosted a very special evening, which took us around the world and back home, to BM.
Simple, decent, affordable housing for all; this is Habitat for Humanity’s worldwide goal. Habitat builds, renovates and repairs houses with the help of homeowner families, volunteers, and donations of money and materials.
There’s an English saying, « All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy » to which Brillantmont wholly subscribes! Education is not just about what goes on in the classroom; learning continues outside of the classroom. It’s all about developing interests, discovering talents and nurturing passions, which help a child acquire new skills and become a more confident and rounded individual.
