Music has always had a place in Brillantmont life and not just amongst the students as we have many musical staff, who share their passion.
In 8th and 9th Grade, our students have music on their schedules and explore the fundamentals in our well equipped music room, where you can find keyboards, electric guitars, drum sets and several percussion instruments.
Individual music lessons
Many of our students have individual music lessons. Usually the teacher comes to the campus and at any time, students can take the key to the Music Room to practise in private. They can learn any instrument, thanks to our access to fantastic music teachers who live and work in Lausanne. Guitar, violin, saxophone, flute, piano, singing, drums – anything is possible at Brillantmont!
This geographical advantage gives even more opportunities to those who wish to take their music studies to another level. An entrance exam allows highly talented musicians to enter the prestigious Conservatory of Lausanne. There are long waiting lists and the places are highly coveted. Every year, we are very proud to have students admitted to the Conservatory, where they can develop their music to the very highest level, learn performance and continue with musical theory too.
Another amazing opportunity is for our students to participate in local orchestras and bands. Several of our students have played in local youth orchestras – a great way to develop musical skills but also get to improve French and make new friends, since they are immersed with local youngsters.
Music brings people together and participation in the BM rock band is open to musicians of all abilities and instruments. Our talented coach brings out the very best in the BM students and they cover all genres of music, getting into the BM groove! It’s wonderful to see how music enables even the shyest students to shine on stage and to showcase their creativity. It’s a fantastic vehicle for developing self-confidence and for teamwork, since working together and listening to each other is strongly advised!
Our Floral Notes musical evening celebrated the BM musical spirit and showcased some of our staff talents too! It was a lovely evening, bringing us all together in a spirit of joy and with the sense of family, which is at the heart of Brillantmont.
Brillantmont International School
Founded in 1882, Brillantmont International School is one of the oldest boarding schools in Switzerland and is still owned and run by the founding family.
The school welcomes boarding and day students, aged 13-18 (Grades 8-12) from over 30 nationalities. Students follow stimulating courses leading to internationally recognised examinations (British IGCSE, A Level; American High School Diploma with SAT and IELTS).
