International education that opens doors: a pathway to global opportunities

| 0 comments| by Sarah Frei Sarah Frei

Choosing a school is one of the most significant decisions a family can make. It is more than just academics - it is about finding a place where students are challenged, supported, and inspired to grow. In the heart of Switzerland, our unique learning environment offers a blend of academic rigour, personal attention and great global perspective for our students.

1 We are happy to welcome you - Brillantmont International School - Lausanne Switzerland

Strong foundations in international and British education, but with Swiss know-how

Family owned and run since 1882, Brillantmont provides a well established, international academic pathway. Students aged 13 to 18 join us from 8th Grade, to discover their strengths, explore diverse subjects, uncover their passions, and build their educational strength.

Our goal is to guide each student towards a path that opens doors to outstanding universities worldwide, aligning with the aspirations of our students.

1 Adv. History - March - Brillantmont Large

Our programmes - British IGCSE and A Level and / or High School Diploma - allow students to specialise in subjects that reflect their interests and ambitions. Whether focused on sciences, humanities or the arts, they gain the tools to think critically, study independently and communicate effectively.

Small class sizes (average of 9) enable teachers to tailor their teaching and provide close support, adapting to each student's individual needs. Academic goals are ambitious and learners are supported every step of the way as they work to realise their potential.

Our teachers understand that every student learns differently. That is why they use a wide range of methods to deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that encourage active participation. Lively discussions draw on the diverse perspectives of our multicultural community. Students and teachers learn from one another, especially in subjects such as humanities, languages, and PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education), where students’ real life experiences enrich classroom dialogue

Small school = big achievements

As a small school, we can focus on each student as an individual, with their own strengths and challenges. Students feel more confident, less intimidated by others and their voice is heard. They feel part of a warm community, like a big family, which places value on respect and human interactions. They leave Brillantmont confident in who they are, equipped with the knowledge, skills and outlook to succeed in whatever path they choose for their future.

Our curriculum celebrates cultural diversity

The curriculum celebrates the cultural diversity of the community, which includes students from nearly 30 different nationalities. This diversity provides daily opportunities to learn from one another, to broaden perspectives, and to share authentic insights across cultures.

In this environment, intercultural understanding becomes a natural part of learning. Our aim is to equip students with the attitudes, awareness, and adaptability to become truly global citizens.

Whether they are analysing literature from multiple cultures, exploring global challenges in geography or debating ethical questions - students are encouraged to think deeply, listen openly, and articulate their own viewpoints with clarity and confidence.

University success through personalised guidance

Beyond daily learning, students benefit from a structured university preparation programme that begins early. Our Guidance Counsellor offers individualised support with course selection, applications and personal statements, drawing on a deep understanding of admissions processes around the world.

Graduates regularly secure places at leading universities across the UK, Europe, Japan and beyond. More importantly, they leave with a clear sense of purpose, resilience, and readiness for the academic and personal demands of higher education.

A culture of personal growth and encouragement

School life is designed to build more than just knowledge. It fosters curiosity, creativity, and leadership, through participation in a rich and varied extra-curricular programme. Sports teams, creative clubs, debating skills through Model United Nations, musical instruments - these are all activities which take place at the end of the day. Weekend activities explore Switzerland, travel to neighbouring countries and provide challenge on hikes and ski trips.

Our Service Learning programme also plays a key role in this holistic approach, helping students develop empathy and a sense of global responsibility through real-world action, like fund raising activities, environmental clean ups and a trip to build a house for a family in need.

These experiences allow students to apply their learning in meaningful ways and grow into compassionate, engaged citizens. Learn more about our Service Learning here.
